Holistic Martial Arts for Youth - starting September 9, 2025

A unique principal-based approach to martial arts inspired by Systema, Aikido, and Japanese Sword. There are no ranks, tests, belts, no techniques or traditions to memorize, no competitions and no uniforms. And no hidden or extra costs for the parents! The four pillars of this type of training is breathing, relaxation, structure, and movement. Students work cooperatively on skills that encourage creative problem solving and improvisation while under stress. Children learn how to mediate, self-regulate/co-regulate, and think critically. This is done through martial arts scenarios, games, movement exercises, and cooperative play. Whereas traditional and stylized martial arts are limited to a very specific skill set, our program introduces all aspects of martial arts: health practices, striking, wrestling, grappling, weapons defense, multiple attackers, and more. This way students find their own authentic way of moving and being in the world.
What makes us different: We offer a structure to the class that incorporates the mutual respect of traditional martial arts without the rigidity of 'how to be' or simply copy-catting the teacher. We teach improvisation and natural movements that put a student in the best possible position to make better choices. Without the pressure of ranks and tests that already plague every aspect of daily society, students instead engage out of pure joy and exploration of themselves and transcending their limitations. We emphasize health practices like breathing, yoga, massage, and always emphasize a healthy body and psyche capable of problem solving while staying free of aggression and tension.
